Dead wooding involves the removal of any dead wood within the crown of the tree. Normal working practices involves the removal of any dead wood > 2 inches thick. 

 

Reasons for dead wooding include:

 

• Safety - prevention of wood falling on buildings, vehicles or the public

• Overall aesthetics of the tree
